Each year, usually early in May, the SLO Friends of the Library hosts a luncheon for its members and guests which serves as the annual meeting of the nonprofit corporation, a gathering of members and an opportunity to feature a local author as guest speaker.
The 2020 Annual Meeting and Luncheon, originally scheduled to be held on May 7, 2020, has been canceled due to the outbreak of COVID-19. We look forward to seeing you in 2021.
Our speaker will be Cal Poly professor Matt Ritter whose most recent book, California Plants: A Guide to our Iconic Flora, provides an in-depth look at hundred of California’s native plants.
Over the last years, the guest speakers have included:
2019 – Joe Carotenuti – well-known local historian, focusing on the 100th anniversary of the county Libraries
2018 – Jim Gregory – author of many books on Central Coast history
2017 Jeff Wheelwright – author of The Wandering Gene and the Indian Princess
